Capital markets courtship

There’s been a rise in the number of joint ventures,
partnerships and outsourcing efforts by second-tier
investment banks, and that’s only likely to accelerate.
Many national and regional banks lack the scale to
compete with the big banks in capital markets, and that gap
is widening as the big US institutions outspend everyone else
on technology in a way that locks in and extends their
advantage.
JVs, partnerships and outsourcing provide a way to
compete for those not sitting at the top table.
