Julie Delton grew up in a creative family. Her mother, Judy Delton, was the author of more
than two hundred books for children, including the Pee Wee Scout series. Julie and her two
sisters have also published books. Julie received her degree in Studio Art from
the College of St. Catherine in Minnesota and an additional diploma in Illustrative Arts
from the City & Guilds of London Art School in England. Since 1989, she has worked as
a freelance illustrator, providing artwork for editorial clients (most notably The Wall Street
Journal and The New Yorker), design firms, ad agencies, and private collectors.
Julie’s technique combines watercolors and inks with resist, achieving a textural
“block-print” look. She lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but travels extensively, now that she
is “mostly” retired!
